A couple of years before our son, Quinn, was born, I started this quilt. Originally I was going to make a diamond patterned quilt, but when the squares were all stitched together I changed my mind. I ripped the seams out and started over with this pinwheel pattern.
After the quilt top was pieced, I layered it on the backing and batting on the floor of what is now the kids’ playroom. During the months of my pregnancy, I handquilted this quilt for Quinn. And during his first year of life, I photographed him every month on top of his quilt.
This is my first modern heirloom quilt.
